8th Battalion Canadian Railway Troops Officer Photo WWI


[Despite the outbreak of measles and mumps, the battalion left the base at Purfleet, England on April 16th, sailed from Southampton on the 17th, and landed at Le Havre, France on the 19th.
At this time the 8th Battalion was comprised of 36 officers, shown in the photo above, and 966 other ranks. Animal Transport: 260 mules, 10 horses, 64 general service wagons, 4 field kitchens, and 2 water carts. Mechanical Transport: 2 Sunbeam ambulances, 8 motor trucks, 9 lorries, 10 motor cycles and 8 bicycles.]
