8th Battalion Canadian Railway Troops Officer Photo WWI

[Despite the outbreak of measles and mumps, the battalion left the base at Purfleet, England on April 16^th, sailed from Southampton on the 17^th, and landed at Le Havre, France on the 19^th.

At this time the 8^th Battalion was comprised of 36 officers, shown in the photo above, and 966 other ranks. Animal Transport: 260 mules, 10 horses, 64 general service wagons, 4 field kitchens, and 2 water carts. Mechanical Transport: 2 Sunbeam ambulances, 8 motor trucks, 9 lorries, 10 motor cycles and 8 bicycles.]
